Advertising technology
Last updated: August 2026
The Life Angle buys paid search traffic to bring readers to its articles. This page describes the internal software we use to manage that spending, and why we are applying for programmatic access to the Google Ads API.
What the tool is
It is a single-purpose internal application, built and operated by us, that manages one Google Ads account — our own, number 377-225-5056, under our own manager account 379-005-5027. It is not a product. It is not sold, licensed, resold, or made available to anyone outside this company, and it never touches an account we do not own and fund ourselves.
Two people use it: the person who writes the campaigns and the person who reviews the spending. There is no third-party access and no customer-facing surface.
What it does
Reporting. It reads campaign, ad group, keyword and search-term performance and stores it in our own database, so that advertising cost can be reconciled against the sales our affiliate networks report to us. Today this is done by downloading spreadsheets by hand, which means our numbers are always a day stale and reconciliation is unreliable.
Campaign management. We run roughly a dozen product campaigns that change as offers are added, paused or retired by the merchants whose products we write about. The tool creates and updates campaigns, ad groups, keywords, responsive search ads and budgets, and changes their status between enabled and paused. Every change is initiated by us and reviewed before it goes live.
Offline conversion import. Our sales complete on the merchant's checkout, not on our site, so Google never sees the purchase. The merchant notifies us by server-to-server postback; we match that sale back to the originating click using the click identifier captured on our landing page, and upload it as an offline conversion. Without this step, automated bidding optimises for outbound clicks instead of sales — which is exactly what happened to us before we built it.
Scale
One account, roughly a dozen campaigns, and a few hundred API calls per day at most. We are not building a reporting product, an agency platform, or anything resold to others.
Data and privacy
The tool handles advertising performance data and our own sales records. It does not collect, store or transmit personal information about readers beyond what is described in our privacy policy, and it does not share Google Ads data with any third party.
